Confused by your CPA and attorney (Part 10)
A message from Dr. Ziv Simon
March 27, 2020
Hello my friend,,
It's the first time in my life as far as I remember that I feel TGIF.
I was never happy when a week was over because I love the energy and excitement of those 5 week days.
Today, I'm super excited to go back to my family for a two full uninterrupted days. It was a hard week not because of the challenges and damage control activities.Weirdly enough, it was actually an amazing week.
What got to me is confusion.
By now you know how much I'm fighting for clarity and against confusion in education. It's one of my missions.
That mindset also applies to everything else.
I don't like to feel confused.
It feels like you're watching a foreign movie with subtitles that belong to another movie. You understand NADA.
For certain things in our current reality it sure feels like it. we are confused about what to do. Our CPAs and attorneys are overwhelmed and sometimes contradicting each other.
You speak to your dentist friends and get over-confused with every new email or webinar you attend (except for Dentists Vs. Corona broadcast of course!).
Here's what I learned.
This is a brand new situation. It's unprecedented. The government is inventing new tools to tackle this crisis financially, medically and socially.
A lot is vague and confusing and you are not in a position to fully understand it all.
Even the pros, our CPAs and attorneys, are not 100% clear at the moment. Let them figure out first and only then give you the bottom line.
Don't drive yourself crazy about it.
Try to relax. Don't think about it for a couple of days. The implications of the new laws equate tons of money in and out of your pocket. Personally, I'd like to make good decisions for my own business too but it's still "smokey" out there.
We don't see super well. Let the smoke clear.
Things will get properly interpreted by our professionals. Don't play CPA or JD. You are a dentist.
You're smart but you don't have the band width to figure this out yourself, especially since things are changing by the day.
Things will get clearer next week and you'll get specific instructions. The government is going to be very lenient in regards to compliance. You are not the only confused and scared one here. This is a state of national emergency.
You will be given some slack.
So I personally let go of my confusion by delaying dealing with it until next week. You'll follow up with your CPA and attorney and ask for instructions, clarifications and what your next steps should be.
Right now, your mind needs a little chamber of quiet without thinking about laws, payroll rules, tax issues and SBA loans. It's still premature and yet so many dentists are losing sleep at night.
I want you to come home and enjoy your family and see how their week was.
How are your kids dealing coping? How's your spouse holding up? What type of things worry him or her?
When you get home don't rush in.
Sit in a car for a couple of minutes. Close your eyes. Shake out the thoughts. Put a smile on your face even of you don't feel like smiling.
The key is to smile outside the door before you walk in.
Use those smile muscles, put a big smile on your face even if it feels fake and only then walk in.
I want your family to see you smiling when you walk in.
You are your family's source of power and confidence.
Without you they would feel lost and even more confused than you. Try your best not to share the weekly struggles with them (most important tip of this email).
Don't complain even if you have a reason.
Just walk in there like the superstar that you are.
You have gone through so much this week. You deserve endless credit and you don't need to get it from anyone. The credit and the love comes to you from yourself.
You are powerful and people around you admire your strength and poise.
I believe you can and you will win this battle.
Now breath, smile and open the front door. The people who love you can't wait to see you.
Stay strong!
Ziv.
PS:
Next week we go at it again.
It'll be busy, I promise.
We have 2 broadcasts for you. One is "Dentists Vs. Corona #3" with a surprise guest speaker who will join me. We also have an endo webinar through the "John I. Ingle Webinar Series".
We will have more clarity about legal, employment and government matters. You'll see.
