The smile of a Corona patient (Part 14)

A message from Dr. Ziv Simon

April 2, 2020

Dear friend,

We had a busy day with more than a 1000 participants in both of our broadcasts.

The energy was through the roof.

We are a strong community that stands together during this crisis, stays focused and keeps sharp. This is exactly what you need to combat the challenges coming your way. You have the support of the whole Surgicalmaster community. This was our vision 7 years ago.

Keep the focus and positive mindset.

I personally try to minimize watching the news. I get the daily updates in the morning and I try not to check it in the evening and before bedtime.

Negative emotions going through your head before bedtime have a negative impact on your sleep.

They linger on for hours. The news will share infection and death rates with you every 5-10 minutes. Try to avoid it. Thoughts about death and sleep don't mix well.

I do my best to be intentional about having a few positive thoughts before I collapse. It's a mind hack I learned a few years ago and taught it to one of my little daughters. She really likes it. In her words: "Can we say the 3 good thing that happened today??".

Just before you close your eyes, think about 3 positive/fun/enjoyable moments that happen to you during the day.

It can be as simple as a great cup of coffee, an enjoyable moment with your spouse, child or friend or even something that made you smile. A joke,  a funny post. Anything pleasant. Really anything.

These positive thoughts will take over and saturate your subconscious mind. Easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. Please try.

Be intentional and make it a habit. It's good for your mindset and the mental shape you want to be in. Especially now.

Last night, one of the things I thought about before going to sleep was the smile of a Corona survivor we interviewed yesterday. If you attended today's broadcast, you met Ziad.

We interviewed him about contracting corona, his symptoms and how he survived to tell the story. He also talked to us about writing his will when things got rough. It was gripping.

I loved the way how expressed himself  and his smile.  Genuine and warm. A grateful smile of someone who got a second chance in life.

"This is not a bad flue, this is serious" said Ziad and smiled. He gave a message of hope and gratitude to his doctors and us dentists.

Ziad was the first Corona patient in Los Angeles County. I want you to watch him tell his story and connect. We will be releasing the full interview soon.

His smile represents our hope. His personal survival is powerful and inspiring.

This crisis can be overcome. This virus is not a death sentence.

Our practices will survive. You will go back to treat patients.  Your team will go back to what they do best - dentistry.

So tonight, do me a favor, just before you close your eyes, think about  just one good thing thing.

One positive thought.

Stay strong!

Ziv.
